Silicone Bracelet

Bracelets, or wristbands as they are sometimes known, are one of two ancient types of jewelry that has been with us for millennia. The necklace, in its varied forms, has also been around for as long as the bracelet. It should come as no surprise considering the simple form of both the bracelet and the necklace are pretty much the same. The main difference is where the item is actually going to be worn. Along the same lines as the bracelet but different is the armlet. The armlet was, like the bracelet, a hoop of formed metal that was worn around the upper arm in many cultures. Unlike the bracelet the armlet was often much wider and not really worn all that much anymore. Bracelets today are still made from various metals but some silicone bracelets are made from rubber or other materials.

Silicone bracelets have become a bit of a trendy fad ever since Nike and Lance Armstrong launched the Livestrong campaign in 2004. The yellow silicone bracelet that was used as part of the campaign to spread awareness spread across the globe as a new and wonderful way to spread awareness and to raise funds. As they are inexpensive and can be made in a variety of colors with a variety of messages they have become the ideal way to carry the message of many a non-profit organization while helping to them to raise some funds as well.

But fads aside, there are still many bracelets that are not silicone bracelets available today. Jewelers have not lost the skills and art of making bracelets from various metals like gold and silver. In many cultures charm bracelets are still worn by young girls and are given as gifts every year. The bracelet may be one of the simplest pieces of jewelry but since it can take nearly any form - from a simple chain to a heavy hoop - they are still one of the pieces that are worn the most by a variety of different people.

The bracelet has come a long way from bone and stone to silicone bracelets but they still maintain their place in the world. It does not matter if people wear them for a cause or for decoration as long as they are being worn. Like the wheel, the bracelet is never going to go out of fashion.
